Three months!

Benjamin James - Three months old

Our little guy is already 3 months old! This month has been a good one. Even though I was initially dreading going back to work and having to leave Benjamin at home, it turned out to be a wonderful blessing in disguise. Ammon's last day of class was my first day back at Maple Mountain, so he was able to be a full-time daddy this month. And he did an excellent job! Every day while I was at school, Ammon would send me a cute picture of daddy and son doing something fun t
ogether. It really would help make my school day go a little faster to see my two cuties. They had a blast spending every day together this month and I can tell that Benjamin absolutely idolizes his daddy already. Ammon even got to take Benjamin to work in the research lab every afternoon. I know that Ammon is going to look back on this month with a lot of fondness, since he probably won't have an opportunity quite like this one with any of our future kids!

Benjamin is getting cuter every day! He started smiling at the end of last month and he has been the smiliest little boy ever since. I absolutely loved being a mommy before, but there is nothing more rewarding then seeing his huge, happy smile when I walk in the room! It makes my heart melt. Benjamin is the most smiley in the mornings, right after he wakes up and finishes his breakfast. He is definitely a morning person already - just like his mommy. Sometimes in the morning, I don't even realize he is awake until I walk into his nursery to check on him. I assume he is asleep because he is so quiet and calm, but then I see his little toes wiggling and poking out of the swaddle blanket, and I realize he is wide awake after all! His little toes are the only things he can move when we swaddle him tight each night. Then, when I walk closer to him so he can see me, his eyes meet mine and his entire face bursts in to a huge grin!

My favorite thing to do with Benjamin right now is definitely bath time! If Benjamin is every grumpy and we can't seem to figure out why, we always head for the tub. As soon as he is in the warm, soapy water, he gets so content and calm. Most days I'll climb in the tub with him so that we can play in the water together! I love gently massaging his cute chubby belly and pouring the water over the top of his head to scrub the little hair that he has. Benjamin's hair is so funny, he had quite a bit when he was born, but after 2 months of rubbing his head on his crib it has almost all fallen out except for a thick patch at the base of his neck. It looks just like a mullet! I keep saying that I am going to cut it, but Ammon always talks me out of it.

Benjamin James is our little cutie and we love him to the moon and back!
